I never expected a newspaper, or a note in the newspaper that would name someone as a VIP... [ Seriously of all things, she definitely expected not that. ]
However... there's no way of knowing whether it really is from the detective.
[he's not entirely convinced the note is a fake. But he doesn't want to draw attention, and if that's what she wants anyway, there's no reason not to go along with her.]
